A Life-Altering Accident: In 2021, Mohit Vikhankar’s life changed in a split second. As he commuted to work by train—just as he did every day—a tragic accident struck. He fell from the moving train, suffering devastating injuries that led to the amputation of his left hand and the loss of toes from both feet.

The accident left Mohit with an 86% locomotor disability. But more than the physical pain, it was the emotional turmoil that shattered him. His dreams, his career, and his confidence—all seemed lost in an instant.

Lost and Hopeless: Before the accident, Mohit had completed his B.Com and was working in the automobile sector. He was independent, passionate, and looking forward to a bright future. But after the accident, everything came crashing down.

He lost his job. Rejections poured in from companies unwilling to hire a person with a disability, despite his experience and skills. Depression crept in. For nearly three years, Mohit struggled—searching, hoping, but finding only closed doors.

A Ray of Hope – Finding Sarthak: One evening, while scrolling through Instagram, Mohit came across a video about Sarthak Educational Trust. He saw people like him—persons with disabilities—rebuilding their lives through skill training and employment. It was the first time in years that he felt hope.

Determined to turn his life around, Mohit enrolled in a cost-free one-month training program at Sarthak’s Global Resource Center in Gurgaon.

He realized that disability wasn’t an end—it was just a challenge. The training boosted his confidence, refined his skills, and prepared him to step back into the professional world.

And then, the breakthrough happened.

Back in the Game – A Job That Changed Everything: With Sarthak’s support, Mohit secured a job in the same industry where he had once worked. He was hired as an Accessories Executive at a Hyundai showroom with an annual salary of ₹3.2 LPA.

For Mohit, this was more than just a job—it was his second chance at life. His father was retired, his mother a homemaker, and his brother was the only earning member. Now, he could contribute again.

‘It feels like I got my life back. No one was ready to hire me because of my disability. I kept getting rejected just because of my condition. But Sarthak gave me a chance,’ Mohit shares.

A Future Full of Possibilities: Not only did Mohit restart his career, but he also proved his capabilities. His hard work paid off when he won the ‘Employee of the Year’ award, and soon, he is set to be promoted—another milestone in his journey.
