Vinod, a 32-year-old resident of Patna, never imagined that he would participate in a competition, let alone emerge as a winner.
After completing his education up to the 10th standard, Vinod made the difficult decision to discontinue his studies. Competitions and academic accolades were never part of his journey. Instead, he focused on acquiring a practical skill that would help him lead an independent life. With dedication and hard work, he mastered tailoring and started his own clothing business in 2002.
Vinod lives in a joint family with five brothers who have always stood by his side as a pillar of support. Their constant encouragement gave him the confidence to take a leap of faith and step into uncharted territory. Motivated by his family, Vinod participated in the NAAI Skill Competition for the first time in Jharkhand, an event organized by Sarthak Educational Trust. Competing in the Tailoring Skill category, he secured a Silver Medal, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Buoyed by this success, Vinod went on to participate in the prestigious 11th National Abilympics Skill Competition, held in Gurugram in December 2024 and also organized by Sarthak Educational Trust. Once again, his exceptional skills and determination earned him a Silver Medal.
This recognition holds immense value for Vinod. It is more than just a medal; it is a testament to his unwavering spirit and a source of pride for his family and community.
Now, Vinod is setting his sights on the global stage. He is preparing to represent India at the International Abilympics, which will be held in Finland in 2027. With dreams of clinching the Gold Medal, Vinod is channeling his passion and determination into making this dream a reality.
Vinod’s story is not just about overcoming a disability; it is about proving that with the right mindset, support, and opportunities, anyone can achieve greatness. He is an inspiration to countless others, showing that no obstacle is insurmountable when one has the courage to dream and the will to achieve.
