Akshara’s Journey: From Silence to Speech – A New Life Unfolds

Late diagnosis of disability led to developmental delay in Akshara's case. Born healthy, Akshara was a bright-eyed baby who brought endless joy to her family. However, as the years passed, her parents noticed something wasn’t quite right. Akshara struggled with speech and understanding simple words, had trouble making friends, and lacked social skills. Her teachers became concerned as well, noticing her difficulty paying attention in class.

When Akshara started school, her lack of response and difficulties in studies became alarming. At the age of 7, she was diagnosed with Hard of Hearing, leaving her family devastated.

Her parents, confused about how to help, found hope through Sarthak Educational Trust’s Early Intervention Center. A plan of action was created that involved speech therapy and special education to address her developmental delays.

Speech Therapy: Finding Her Voice
Akshara’s journey to speaking began with speech therapy. Her therapist worked on simple exercises to strengthen her orofacial muscles, and through persistence, Akshara produced her first sounds. Slowly, these sounds transformed into words, and soon, Akshara could say “Papa,” “Mumma,” and “Baba”—milestones that filled her family with hope.

Special Education: Unlocking Her Academic Potential
Alongside speech therapy, Akshara’s special educator worked tirelessly to introduce her to basic academic concepts. Initially, she struggled with the alphabet and numbers, but eventually, she began recognizing letters and numbers. Each small academic victory was a huge step toward her future success.

A New Chapter: Confidence and Growth
Thanks to Sarthak, Akshara’s transformation was remarkable. From a child locked in her own silent world, she became a confident young girl who could now speak, learn, and connect with others. Her communication skills improved, and her quiet personality started to shine brightly.
