In the endeavor of skill development 4550 persons with disability have been trained till date in our nine centers at Chandigarh, Delhi, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad.
Out of the six centers, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Gurgaon are supported by Tech Mahindra Foundation and Jaipur, Lucknow, Ludhiana are supported by National Skill Development Corporation. Jaipur and Ludhiana centers are also supported by their respective state governments as well.
Three new skill development centers have been started in May 2016 in Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune with the support of Capgemini.
At Sarthak four models of training are followed, namely Basic training program, Employability training program, Corporate linked training program, & medical transcriptions.
In Basic Training program, school going candidates between the age group of 14 to 18 years are enrolled for a six month training duration. The course curriculum includes basic IT skills and Basic English. Post the successful completions of the course, the candidates are assessed and certified by NIIT Foundation.
Corporate linked training program is directed towards adding value to the professional growth of differently able candidates rather than providing a placement offer. The duration of this module of training ranges for 3 to 15 days. During this program candidates are trained at either company’s own centers or at Sarthak centers. Post completion of the program candidates are assessed and certified by the training organization themselves.
Third in the line is Employability training program wherein, focus is at both employability enhancement and employment generation of the trainees. The duration of this program is of 90 days and is divided into four phases, namely, basic skill building, sector specific training, pre employment module, and on the job training.
Various training allied activities are also carried along with training program with the intent to create training program more interactive and interesting. It includes various activities namely Motivational Sessions, Exposure Visits, Guest Lectures, Parents Workshop, and others.
Phase one refers to foundation course, wherein, individual is provided with basic understanding of computer skills, English, and soft skills. In the second phase, trade specific training is provided to the trainees in the area of Retail, BPO, IT and Hospitality. The third phase paves the way for interview preparation and fourth one involves on the job training or placement.
In rural belts of India, Sarthak works on the model of providing livelihood based skills to differently able candidates in association with Jaipur Rugs, and ITC on the model of Rural Training Program. The objective is to support livelihood activities by promoting entrepreneurship or forming self help groups.
