Sarthak Educational Trust and National Abilympics Association of India conducted 5th National conference on Disability wherein stakeholders from corporate, Government, media, doctors, academicians, researchers and champions with disability gathered under single roof to participate in various panel discussions revolving around pressing needs of disability sector.
Ms Shakuntala Doley Gamlin, Secretary, Dept. of Empowerment of persons with disabilities graced the conference as Guest of honor and supported the theme “Act to Empower” by quoting “Nearly 2.67 crore children in the country are in need of institutional support for rehabilitation, inclusive education, skill development, reducing intensity of disability and optimization of abilities. The Department has taken several steps and welfare measures to empower the disable in the country and there is a need to scale up the efforts to enlarge the scope. We need to change our attitude and perception towards the most marginalized section of society.” This year, parallel panel were also the part of conference revolving around the theme of accessible technology, Early Intervention, Inclusive Education and Abilympics.
